Job purpose

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that ensure compliance with environmental, occupational health, and safety regulations within the helicopter MRO facility. This role ensures that all EHS initiatives align with AS9100/9110 standards, ITAR requirements, FAA regulations, and company policies. The EHS Manager will serve as a key leader in driving a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance across all MRO operations.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety management system in compliance with OSHA, EPA, FAA, AS9100/9110, and ITAR regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Perform annual AS9100/ISO
    9001 audits, gap analysis prior to external audits.
  • Maintain and update EHS policies, procedures, and training programs, ensuring all employees understand and comply with safety protocols.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure proper waste management, spill response, and hazardous materials handling in compliance with environmental laws.
  • Monitor and manage key EHS performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and lead emergency response plans, drills, and crisis management programs.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Facilities, and HR teams to ensure alignment between operational safety and production goals.
  • Support FAA and AS9100/9110 audits and participate in customer and regulatory audits as required.
  • Maintain ITAR compliance regarding controlled data, materials, and processes.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on occupational health, environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene.
  • Coordinate with ARFF personnel for emergency response drills, fuel spill response procedures, evacuation plans and training alignment.
  • Custodian of the company Corrective Action process and sustain a higher level of knowledge related to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and investigatory practices to ensure adequacy in responses and approval of responses regardless of the submitting party.
  • Point of contact for customer initiated corrective actions.
  • Investigate non-conformance root causes resulting from internal and external discrepancies, as well as issue corrective and/or preventive actions. QA Manager will ensure corrective and/or preventive actions are implemented and effective.
Workplace Safety
  • Adhere to OSHA and FAA safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Identify, report, and mitigate workplace hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Promote a “Safety First” culture among all maintenance and inspection personnel.
  • Wear and enforce use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Enforce safe work practices, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and ergonomic best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with aircraft maintenance operations, including confined spaces, high-pressure systems, fuel handling, and heavy lifting.
  • Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for MRO processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Fall Protection, and Hazard Communication standards.
SOP/KPIs
  • 100% compliance with FAA regulations and company maintenance procedures.
  • Zero tolerance for preventable safety or quality incidents.
