Job Description
What is a Salesperson? An entry‑level sales position designed to support the DIY business and achieve sales and service objectives. The role requires knowledge of store systems, basic automotive system knowledge, and basic part knowledge, as well as the ability to source items from stores, hubs, PDQ, and external suppliers. The role must understand store inventory and maintenance processes, and can be part‑time or full‑time.
Fleet safety certification is preferred.
- Provide excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls
- Achieve personal sales goals and help the store meet its sales targets
- Provide DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
- Maintain store product and operational standards
- Handle inventory processes including truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, and back‑stock upkeep
- Maintain store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot
- General stocking, including truck stocking and back‑stock management
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed
- Basic driving and navigation ability
- Proficiency with delivery board system
- Friendly communication and relationship building
- Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
- Strong safety knowledge and skills
- Operation of inventory systems and store equipment
- Parts and automotive system knowledge
- Experience with POS and parts lookup systems
- Expertise in testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY service
Job Skills Necessary for Success as a Salesperson
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, employing whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed
- 2–3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences

- Pick and stage parts for customer orders
- Pick up returns and cores
- Drop off weekly/monthly sales flyer
- Collect credit accounts daily
- Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot
- General stocking, including truck stocking and back‑stock upkeep
- Basic driving and navigation ability
- Proficiency with delivery board system
- Friendly communication and relationship building
- Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
- Strong safety knowledge and skills
- Operation of inventory systems (back‑stock) and store equipment
