Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Performs a wide range of preventive/repair/facilities maintenance tasks on the building, equipment and grounds to retain assigned facility in an acceptable state. Skilled trade work includes:

• Carpentry
• Painting
• Electrical
• Plumbing
• Heating and air conditioning
• Lock‑smith duties

Additional duties include:

• Maintaining/repairing kitchen equipment
• Assembling items such as furniture, etc.
• Assisting with quarterly technical testing of equipment and inspection of facilities, identifying the need for submission of work order requests
• Follow‑up on completion of work that is beyond individual capacity
• Assuring that the grounds and outside areas surrounding the buildings are maintained in excellent condition

Incumbents are also accountable for performing work assignments in a safe manner and assisting co‑workers in the execution of tasks as necessary or required.

Assists the Facility Manager with the work order system and preventative maintenance program. Also assists with maintaining records and planning and scheduling of all work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and general maintenance work. Requires knowledge of the policies, procedures and equipment applicable to the work unit at appointment.

• Three years of recent, progressively responsible maintenance‑related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
• One year of work experience in the core level of the job family or any combination of experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Preferred licensure:
  Boiler Operator: WA.
