Conduct discovery investigations relating to legal proceedings, potential liability issues, claims, and personnel matters for members of the insurance pools administered.
Responsibilities- Receive investigation assignments from PLP Assistant, Director of Investigations, Contract Attorneys, Claim Adjustors, and/or Pre‑Litigation Director.
- Coordinate investigations with client point of contact and communicate regularly with them during the investigation.
- Travel throughout Washington State in your personal vehicle; required to engage in overnight travel throughout the week as necessary.
- Interview complaints, subjects, witnesses, and potential witnesses.
- Locate missing or hard‑to‑find people and information.
- Maintain liaisons with outside agencies and organizations to ease access to information.
- Manage the investigation/case until closing.
- Update Pre‑Litigation Director, Claims Adjusters, and Director of Investigations on challenges and progress of investigations.
- Gather reports and documents relating to claims or Pre‑Litigation issues.
- Confer with claim supervisors regarding evaluation of reports and investigations assembled by outside investigative agencies.
- Assemble investigation notes and documents clearly and concisely describing the information discovered.
- Draft investigation reports, review for accuracy, and submit for attorney review in a timely manner.
- Attend Investigation, PLP, and All‑Teammate Meetings on a regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision to meet client needs.
- Basic knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and Civil Law proceedings.
- Working knowledge of School and Employment Law.
- Strong interviewing skills of child and adult complainants, witnesses, and subjects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and other online programs.
- Articulate and able to draft comprehensive reports relating to relevant allegations.
- Flexible to be reassigned to additional duties as needed or in emergencies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to work unsupervised or in teams.
- Positive attitude, strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
- Professional office dress; present oneself professionally, including personal hygiene and appearance.
- Regular attendance is essential for effective operation of the company.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid WA State Driver’s License.
- Overnight and extensive travel required.
- At least 2 years’ experience conducting thorough discovery investigations.
- Computer skills required.
- Obtain and maintain a current Washington State Private Investigators License.
- Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record and required insurance coverage.
Manual dexterity, arm and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard, mouse, and telephone for 7–10 hours per day; ability to sit at a desk for 7–10 hours per day; adequate vision for a computer monitor and motor vehicle operation; sufficient speech and hearing for in‑person and telephone communication.
PayAnnual Salary: $81,000.00 – $90,000.00
