Overview
The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Maintenance has a full-time vacancy for a Bridge Maintainer I, II or III.
Summary:
Bridge Maintainer I:
To perform semi-skilled bridge construction work, assisting other bridge maintainers in maintenance, repairs, and construction associated with bridge maintenance activities.
Bridge Maintainer II:
To perform semi-skilled and skilled bridge construction work, assisting other bridge maintainers in maintenance, repairs, and construction associated with bridge maintenance activities.
Bridge Maintainer III:
To perform skilled bridge construction and maintenance duties assisting and supervising work performed by other bridge maintainers and acts as crew supervisor in the absence of the Bridge Construction Supervisor.
Bridge Maintainer I:
Performs masonry, carpentry, welding, wood and steel fabrication, structural steel placement, and reinforcement of steel and bridge components. Assists in work zone traffic control, environmental controls for wetlands, safety and security inspections, assembly and installation of temporary bridges, and maintenance of moveable span bridges. Uses rigging slings, scaffolds, and staging for safe lifting. Follows work zone safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Works in challenging environments and operates heavy tools. Adheres to risk management, safety, and environmental standards.
Bridge Maintainer II:
Performs masonry, carpentry, welding, wood and steel fabrication, structural steel placement, reinforcement of steel and bridge components, and safety and security inspections. Operates and maintains heavy equipment to construct and maintain bridges. Applies work zone safety and environmental controls. Trains and supervises Bridge Maintainer I and Laborer positions. Maintains safety and PPE standards in challenging conditions. Operates heavy tools and climbs/scaffolds as needed.
Bridge Maintainer III:
Performs advanced masonry, specialized carpentry, welding, wood and steel fabrication, structural steel placement, reinforcement of steel and bridge components, and safety and security inspections. Operates and maintains heavy equipment. Applies transit knowledge, work zone safety, and temporary bridge operations. Supervises and trains other Bridge Maintainers and Laborers. Responds to inquiries and ensures safety and regulatory compliance. Maintains PPE and safety standards in all conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bridge Maintainer I
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
License/Certification:
Valid driver’s license
Other: MVR must meet minimum standards
Bridge Maintainer II
Education/
Experience:
Equivalent combination of 1 year education and experience after high school
License/Certification:
Valid driver’s license
Other: MVR standards; pre-employment urinalysis drug screen per CFR and US DOT
Trainee Option: Not applicable
Bridge Maintainer III
Education/
Experience:
Equivalent combination of 3 years post-high school in relevant trades; at least 1 year as Bridge Maintainer II or equivalent
License/Certification: CDL-A or CDL-B with tank and air brake endorsements
Other: MVR standards; pre-employment drug screen
After-Hire Requirements
Must possess a valid CDL with tank and air brake endorsements within 1 year
Base pay range: $15.93/hr - $26.41/hr trainee Status available at $15.31 per hour with conditions described in the posting. See total compensation information at the bottom of the announcement. Benefits information includes health benefits, retirement, and other programs as described by the State.
