Quantity Surveyor | Epsom, Surrey KT19

£66,538 per annum inc. car allowance 6,700. PLUS pension, profit share (14%), healthcare, life, and other benefits. Our client is expanding their commercial team out of their Epsom office and is seeking a Quantity Surveyor who can contribute to a growth-focused ethos built on honesty, integrity and teamwork.

Ideally, the role will suit someone with experience working with direct labour teams, including time sheets. Backgrounds in painting, brickwork, plastering or related QS activities, together with tendering, estimating and refurbishments, are considered transferable for this position.

The role is within a long-established property services company (75+ years) with a presence across England and Wales, offering services to public, private, residential and educational sectors, including social housing and councils.

Benefits include: profit share (14% of base salary achieved last year); private mileage scheme and fuel card; enhanced pension contribution up to 7% or a savings scheme; life, medical and permanent health insurance; annual leave options; access to Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity; annual pay reviews; enhanced maternity/paternity pay; training and development opportunities; trade discounts and Specsavers vouchers.

The Quantity Surveyor role comprises tendering, estimating and measuring on site, liaising with direct labour, and working within frameworks and core contracts for clients in the public and residential sectors, including retirement living, commercial and education sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks.
  • Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to inform contract planning from the outset.
  • Work with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity and labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible.
  • Build strong client and supplier relations to discuss variations and contract progress and seek mutual solutions.
  • Complete and analyse weekly site reporting with adequate cost information (labour rates, performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety).
What you will bring
  • You will be inquisitive, organised and honest, and you will thrive when collaborating with clients, trade teams and colleagues, fostering a collaborative working environment and long-term relationships.
  • Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role, with experience in commercial management from tender through final account.
  • Experience managing a value of works up to £3 million annually.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on identifying business opportunities and delivering commercial gains; you should describe yourself as commercial, analytical and accurate.
