Job Overview

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant for SEN pupils to join our team at the Southcote Centre, based at Epsom and Ewell High School, part of Philip Southcote School within the Bourne Education Trust.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide highly effective, targeted provision and care to pupils, under the guidance of Teachers and Senior Leaders, to raise standards of achievement and promote independence. You will support pupil welfare, inclusion, and the school’s ethos and values in accordance with school and Trust policies.

Philip Southcote School is a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities School for students aged 11 to 19. It is part of Bourne Education Trust, a multi‑academy trust with twenty‑four schools across Surrey, Hampshire and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, dedicated to transforming schools and changing lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team under the responsible Teacher to support teaching provision and develop learning for pupils.
  • Facilitate the learning of individual pupils and groups, setting high expectations and promoting positive attitudes to learning.
  • Prepare, plan and deliver specific intervention programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil response and need.
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrated awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent appropriate qualification).
  • Evidence of effective communication with a wide audience and range of stakeholders.

  • Relevant experience working with children in an education setting.
