Job Description Overview
Principal Civil Structural Engineer – Epsom, UK.
Deliver major new‑build nuclear projects (e.g., Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, SMR programmes, fusion reactor technologies). Oversee multidisciplinary projects, engage with clients, develop teams, secure future work, and support the growth of our Power New Build business.
Your RoleLead multidisciplinary projects and ensure timely, high‑quality delivery.
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to multiple team members, developing junior engineers.
Engage clients and stakeholders, understanding their needs and delivering innovative solutions.
Participate in strategic business development, writing bids, securing new work, and expanding client relationships.
Responsibilities- Extensive experience in the analysis and design of nuclear safety‑related structures and/or the assessment of existing nuclear facilities.
- Consult with safety case, external hazard, and internal hazard personnel on the development and substantiation of safety functional requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary projects, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
- Manage and mentor multiple team members, develop junior engineers, and provide technical oversight.
- Client and stakeholder engagement, understanding their needs and delivering innovative solutions.
- Strategic business development, including writing bids, securing new work, and expanding client relationships.
- Chartered status with a recognised civil or structural engineering institution (ICAST, ICE, or equivalent).
- Proven track record and experience in key areas of nuclear safety design and project leadership.
- Strong leadership and ability to inspire and develop engineering teams.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence clients, develop business opportunities, and secure projects.
- Innovative problem‑solving skills, simplifying complex problems to deliver practical, proportionate solutions.

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of UK residency of 5 years or longer.
