Principal​/Senior Civil Design Engineer

The role of Principal / Senior Civil Design Engineer in Epsom is a permanent position offering a salary between £50,000 and £70,000, plus bonus and career advancement opportunities. You will join a growing infrastructure and utilities firm, working three days per week from the Epsom office. This position involves delivering civil design solutions across energy, water, and digital infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include managing designs through the full project lifecycle, from consultancy to construction.

Applicants should possess strong technical design skills and experience in utility or infrastructure schemes, contributing to a team supporting the UK’s energy transition and large‑scale programmes.

Our client is a rapidly growing infrastructure and utilities organisation delivering engineering solutions across energy, water, and digital infrastructure sectors. They operate across the full project lifecycle—from design and consultancy through to construction, commissioning, and maintenance. With continued investment driven by the UK’s infrastructure and energy transition programmes, the business is involved in projects including renewable energy, power networks, water infrastructure, and large‑scale utility schemes.

They are now expanding their civil design capability in the South East, with this role forming part of a growing team based in Epsom.

As a Senior / Principal Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of civil design packages across infrastructure projects, including:

• Roads, drainage, and earthworks design
• Development infrastructure and external works
• SuDS and drainage strategies
• Multidisciplinary design coordination

You’ll also:

• Lead and review technical design outputs
• Mentor junior engineers
• Engage with clients and stakeholders
• Take projects from concept through to delivery

Desirable experience includes:

• Strong experience in civil infrastructure design
• Background in roads, drainage, and earthworks
• Proficient in Civil 3D and AutoCADExperience working to UK design standards (DMRB, S38/S278, etc.)
• Ability to lead projects and check designs
• Temporary works design experience (desirable)
