Position: Senior Dams & Reservoirs Engineer
Are you an experienced Dams & Reservoirs Engineer looking to take the next step in your career and work on some of the UK's most significant water infrastructure projects?

We are currently seeking a Senior Dams & Reservoirs Engineer to join a specialist engineering team delivering complex and technically challenging projects across the water and infrastructure sectors.

This is a senior-level opportunity for a technically strong professional who can provide specialist leadership across major dams, reservoirs and hydraulic structures projects, while helping to develop engineering capability and best practice within the wider team.

The Role

You will take a leading role in the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects, providing technical expertise and leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading teams of engineers and scientists delivering complex dams, reservoirs and hydraulic structures projects.
Taking technical ownership of reservoir safety improvement works and major infrastructure projects.
Leading the development and delivery of project design solutions.
Managing, reviewing and approving technical deliverables including reports, drawings, calculations and scopes of work.
Working closely with project management teams to deliver projects against programme, budget and key milestones.
Providing technical leadership and promoting engineering best practice.
Developing and strengthening dams, reservoirs and hydraulic structures capabilities within the wider engineering team.
Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced engineers.
Applying expert engineering judgement to complex problems and developing innovative solutions.
Providing specialist technical advice to clients and project stakeholders.
Supporting and contributing to bids, tenders and technical proposals.
Working with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Identifying opportunities to improve engineering processes, standards and service delivery.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Dams & Reservoirs professional with a strong technical background and proven experience leading complex design projects.

You should have:

A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Chartered Civil Engineer status.
Demonstrable experience leading the design and delivery of reservoir safety improvement works.
Proven experience leading large-scale engineering design delivery within a consultancy environment.
Strong experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Extensive technical knowledge of dams, reservoirs and hydraulic structures.

Experience with earth and concrete dams, weirs and associated hydraulic structures.
Experience relating to access, accessibility and construction logistics.
Expert knowledge of current design codes, standards and industry best practice.
Strong understanding of CDM Regulations.
Significant experience within the Water sector - essential.
Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
A proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.
Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
