Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm

Contract:

Temporary - Few Months (Long-Term Sick Cover)
Pay Rate: £16.07 per hour (PAYE - Outside London, Band

B)

Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and practical Maintenance / Multi-Trade Operative to support the facilities team at a well-established independent school in Ashtead. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong general maintenance experience who can confidently carry out a range of basic repairs and upkeep tasks across the site

Key Responsibilities

General building maintenance and minor repairs

Fixing doors, windows and locks

Replacing taps, light fittings and basic plumbing items

Repairing or reporting non-working radiators and heating issues

Basic painting, patch repairs and touch-ups

Setting up and clearing areas for school events

Manual handling and moving furniture/equipment

Responding promptly to maintenance requests and health & safety issues

Supporting preventative maintenance checks across the premises

Requirements

Proven experience in general maintenance or multi-trade work

Practical skills in basic plumbing, carpentry and electrical tasks

Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently

Good communication and teamwork skills

Physically fit and comfortable with manual work

Awareness of health & safety practices

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

Previous experience working in schools or large facilities

Driving licence

Basic trade qualifications (not essential but advantageous)
