Epsom & St Helier trust are looking for a substantive full time painter an decorator . The successful candidate will be responsible for all decorating tasks, including surface preparation, painting, varnishing, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a supportive and caring environment for service users.
Main duties of the jobThe Painter and Decorator will be responsible for leading all decorating tasks, ensuring proper preparation of surfaces, applying paint and other finishes, repairing and maintaining painted surfaces, and completing all work to a high standard within project timelines. They will assist with the selection and procurement of materials, maintain a safe work environment, and support the maintenance team as required.

Job responsibilitiesYour responsibilities will include:
- Proper preparation of surfaces for painting
- Applying paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers (where risk assessed)
- Repairing and maintaining painted surfaces, including touch-ups and refinishing
- Ensuring all decorating work is completed to a high standard and within project timelines
- Assisting with the selection and procurement of painting and decorating materials through the correct protocol
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored
- Following health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Assisting in regular checks, repairs, and maintenance of all buildings
- Assisting the maintenance team where required and cover maintenance duties for periods of absence
- Assisting with coordinating and chaperoning contractors on-site, completing any required paperwork
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Previous experience in Painting and Decorating
- Face-to-face experience of dealing with people
- Ability to work under pressure, and respond to the Maintenance Manager requests
- To have extensive experience in the Painting and Decorating industry
- A recognized formal apprenticeship, attaining the relevant craft qualification (i.e. City and Guilds or NVQ
3) or equivalen - To be able to prioritise workload
- To understand the requirements of the COSHH regulations To understand Asbestos Awareness
- HHS experience
- skills of plastering, tiling and decorating
- A recognized competency certificate in the use of step ladders, ladders
- Face-to-face experience of dealing with people
