Job Description & How to Apply Below

We design and manufacture advanced battery pack systems for motive and stationary energy storage applications. Our team develops high-performance, durable battery solutions and supports products from concept through production across a range of industries, including transportation, aerospace, industrial equipment, and energy storage. We are committed to delivering innovative, reliable, and scalable electrification technologies through strong engineering execution and cross-functional collaboration.

The Role

As a Battery Pack Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and development of advanced lithium-ion battery systems. You will lead technical decisions across the product lifecycle, from concept development and prototyping through validation, manufacturing, and production launch.

This role requires a combination of systems-level thinking, hands-on engineering expertise, and strong leadership skills. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop robust battery solutions while ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the design and development of battery pack systems for a variety of electrification applications
  • Define system architectures and drive technical decision-making throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Develop battery pack concepts, detailed designs, CAD models, and supporting engineering documentation
  • Perform engineering analysis, modeling, and simulations to evaluate battery system performance and reliability
  • Create and maintain bills of materials, assembly documentation, and installation procedures
  • Support prototype builds, testing activities, validation programs, and manufacturing implementation
  • Collaborate with program management, procurement, manufacturing, software, and engineering teams to ensure successful product execution
  • Verify battery hardware and software systems meet functional, performance, and safety requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, certifications, and customer requirements
  • Present technical findings, design reviews, and project updates to customers and internal stakeholders
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience designing lithium-ion battery packs or related energy storage technologies
  • 6+ years of engineering experience within automotive, aerospace, industrial, energy storage, or similar industries
  • Experience designing, developing, and testing battery systems for electrified propulsion or stationary energy storage applications
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA, Solid Works, or similar design tools
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, or equivalent simulation packages
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced development environment
  • Understanding of battery safety standards, certification processes, and regulatory requirements such as UL or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 4+ years of project or technical leadership experience
  • Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS), controls, or battery software development
  • Familiarity with battery modeling, simulation, and experimental validation techniques
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering programs from concept through production
  • Knowledge of battery pack integration, thermal management, and system-level performance optimization
Location
  • Pittsburgh, PA or San Francisco, CA
