Buyer , Zappos Merchandising

Zappos is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Merchandising team. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of brands through the ordering of new products and analyzing and managing stock levels. You are the business owner for the brands in your category and will engage directly with internal partners to effectively optimize assortments and execute department‑wide initiatives.

• Identify trends by conducting thorough research and a customer mindset.
• Partner with suppliers in order to have a consistent in‑stock rate of key items at the right time for customer demand.
• Understand the input levers to drive improved customer experience for the assigned category.
• Integrate key metrics with broader business metrics to deliver optimal customer experience.
• Understand the organizational structure and company priorities. Champion ideas across the team and be seen as a resource and expert within areas of responsibility.
• Take a forward‑thinking, holistic, and data‑driven approach to maximize profitability; over‑communicate with stakeholders on strategies.
• Understand the needs and wants of the different consumer demographics, product segmentation, key selling weeks, and seasonal demand.

In this role the ideal candidate will be a forward thinker, always anticipating possible future product offerings by conducting thorough research about what customers are looking for next and the fashion trends that are coming up.

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5+ years in buying, planning, or other related merchandising roles.

• Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze large sets of data.
