Supervisor: Director, Software Development

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Developer to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced warehouse automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in C#, React, and T‑SQL, leveraging the full Microsoft technology stack to optimize warehouse operations and drive digital transformation. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands‑on technical leader who can architect scalable solutions, mentor development teams, and collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver robust, high‑performance systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and develop software solutions for warehouse automation using C#, React, and T‑SQL within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Lead end‑to‑end application development, from requirements gathering and system design to deployment and support.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, warehouse operations, and IT teams to understand automation needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure code quality, maintainability, and scalability through best practices in software engineering, including code reviews and automated testing.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid‑level developers, fostering an culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Integrate and optimize warehouse management systems (WMS) with Microsoft SQL Server databases and cloud services (e.g., Azure).
  • Implement real‑time data processing and analytics to streamline inventory, logistics, and operational workflows.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with emerging technologies, frameworks, and methodologies relevant to warehouse automation and the Microsoft stack.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
  • Document architectural decisions, technical designs, and support materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or principal developer role.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in C# and .NET frameworks.
  • Strong experience building modern web applications using React.
  • Advanced knowledge of T‑SQL and Microsoft SQL Server, including performance optimization and complex query development.
  • Proven track record designing and delivering enterprise‑grade solutions on the Microsoft stack (e.g., Windows, .NET Core, SQL Server).
  • Experienced developing and integrating warehouse management systems or other automation platforms is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and team collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Extensive experience in warehouse automation technologies.
  • Experience with Cloud services (App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, etc.).
  • Knowledge of IoT, robotics, or automation technologies in warehouse settings.
  • Familiarity with Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience with API design and integration.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Working Conditions
  • Travel on an as needed basis.
  • Some weekend/night work required as needed.
  • Working in an office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Working in a stationary position for an extended period.
  • Moving or traversing for an extended period.
  • Occasional ascending and descending scaffolding and/ or mezzanines.
  • Operating computers for an extended period.
  • Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels.
