Accounting Clerk

Description

Robert Half is hiring an Accounting Clerk for a busy distribution company in Escondido! This position is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, keeping financial records accurate, and helping an accounting department stay on top of daily transactions. You'll focus on cash applications and accounts receivable support while working with customer service and sales teams to research payment discrepancies.

The company is looking for a reliable professional who can manage repetitive tasks without losing accuracy, communicate clearly when information is missing, and take ownership of outstanding items.

What You'll Do:

+ Apply customer payments to the correct invoices and accounts.

+ Enter checks, ACH payments, and electronic remittances into the accounting system.

+ Review remittance details and investigate unapplied or unidentified cash.

+ Maintain accurate customer account records and payment documentation.

+ Assist with daily deposit tracking and cash receipt reporting.

+ Reconcile customer accounts and identify duplicate or missing payments.

+ Help prepare accounts receivable aging reports.

+ Communicate with customer service and sales teams to resolve payment questions.

+ Research short payments, credit memos, and invoice discrepancies.

+ Assist with invoice copies, account statements, and customer account updates.

+ Maintain organized electronic records for cash receipts and supporting documentation.

+ Support month-end close by confirming payment postings and outstanding balances.

Requirements

+ 1-2 years of accounting clerk, cash applications, or accounts receivable experience preferred.

+ Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

+ Familiarity with Excel and accounting or ERP systems.

+ Ability to investigate discrepancies and follow up on unresolved items.

+ Good communication skills and a customer-service mindset.

+ Ability to handle deadlines in a high-volume environment.
