Possession of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and one of the following:
1) completion of at least two years of study (minimum 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education;
2) possession of an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
3) passing a rigorous assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics at a level meeting State and Federal requirements. Applicants may be exempt from taking the multiple‑choice examination if they provide college transcripts verifying 48 units or more in core subject areas of English and Math courses with a grade of “C” or better.

Transcripts must be submitted with application. If an applicant does not possess enough units to be exempt, he/she must attach to their application a letter requesting an examination date.

Please be advised, applicants will not be able to submit their application without attaching either transcripts or a letter requesting an examination date.

OR NCLB Compliance

  • An educational stipend is available to those that possess an Associate’s Degree ($500/yr), or a Bachelor’s Degree ($1,500/yr), Master’s Degree ($1,500/yr), and Doctoral Degree ($1,500/yr). A stipend of $500 per year, prorated by FTE (hours worked), split into equal payments based on months paid per year is also offered for special‑ed para educators.
General Requirements

The successful candidate must subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance, submit a general tuberculosis examination, be fingerprinted, complete a pre‑placement physical examination, and show proof of identity and right to work in the United States as conditions of employment. The District has adopted a drug‑free workplace. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results from drug testing.
