Project Engineer, Civil Engineering

Western State Builders is a rapidly growing General Engineering firm performing park development projects throughout Southern California. We specialize in the installation of commercial playgrounds, shade structures, outdoor fitness equipment, site furnishings, and site work. We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join our team. This position is full-time and located in our Escondido office.

• Review plans, specifications, and other reports for each project
• Track project Request for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders and other project files for response and execution
• Review project data for compliance with specifications
• Attend weekly/monthly project meetings with the company and clients
• Assist Project Manager with daily jobsite operations
• Assist with the development of project pay applications
• Assist with project schedule development and subcontractor coordination
• Assist with the project start up and close out documentation
• Review upcoming project estimate plans and help develop takeoffs, scope of work, and scope coverage from company or subcontractors
• Attend pre-bid walks and submit questions as needed
• Track all long-lead material items for procurement
• Gather details for rough order of magnitudes (ROMs) submission
• Review subcontracts for scope coverage and gaps
• Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
• Other duties as assigned

• Minimum 2-5 years of project engineering experience is preferred.
• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management or closely related field is desired but not required
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Bluebeam, and Share Point is required
• Must be able to learn quickly and be adaptable to a variety of situations

This is position is located in Escondido, but requires occasional travel to company jobsites throughout San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, and Los Angeles counties as needed. A company gas and credit card will be provided.

The anticipated pay range for this role is $60,000-$95,000 per year depending on experience.
