Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety‑conscious NDT Technician to support engineering, environmental services, materials testing, and inspection projects. As a NDT Technician, you will perform advanced field and laboratory testing, conduct on‑site inspections, and ensure construction, infrastructure, and environmental projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong problem‑solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced field environment.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically proficient, and committed to maintaining a strong culture of safety. You will also enjoy working outdoors in dynamic environments, collaborating with a team to solve real‑time challenges, and ensuring safety and quality compliance on every project. In addition to independent fieldwork, this position offers opportunities to potentially mentor junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team performance and operational efficiency.

Pay

Range

Starting from USD $25.00/Hr.

Responsibilities
  • Identify structural and material steel/welding defects using appropriate nondestructive testing methods.
  • Interpret and analyze test results to determine material integrity and compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare and complete detailed test reports, documenting procedures, results, and conclusions.
  • Ensure that project welding and testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures.
  • Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers, providing real‑time updates on job status, site conditions, and any issues encountered.
  • May be asked to mentor and support junior field technicians, providing guidance on field procedures, testing methods, and safety best practices.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety protocols, ensuring strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, hazard awareness, and field safety guidelines.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and schedules, including early morning, weekend, or overnight work as needed.
  • Operate and maintain assigned company vehicle, including scheduling routine maintenance and ensuring proper upkeep.
  • Travel to job sites within the designated region, which may require periodic overnight stays based on project needs.
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel based on project demands. Work is typically within San Diego County or Southern California.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support company initiatives and project success.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of field-based experience in materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical fieldwork, or a related industry.
  • Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Level II certification required.
  • Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing preferred or ability to obtain within a specified time period.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to safely operate company vehicles.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and company safety policies.
