This position involves providing direct support within addiction recovery programs, working closely with certified counselors to assist clients facing homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, and social barriers. The role emphasizes maintaining a safe, drug-free environment, ensuring policy compliance, and supporting clients through screenings, treatment planning, and resource navigation. Responsibilities include documentation, emergency response, client advocacy, and participating in staff meetings and trainings.
- Support caseload management alongside certified counselors
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for clients
- Assist with client screenings, treatment plans, and group sessions
- Evaluate client needs and connect them to internal and external resources
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards
- Respond to emergencies and maintain safety protocols
- Document activities accurately and timely in databases and logs
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and external agencies
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and emergency drills
High school diploma or equivalent required; current registration with CCAPP, CADTP, or CAADE, with ongoing certification, is necessary. A minimum of 6 months' experience in addiction treatment, social services, or nonprofit settings, and experience working with individuals facing addiction, mental illness, or homelessness are essential. Key skills include strong communication, organization, problem-solving, confidentiality, and the ability to work collaboratively under pressure.
Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to multi-task are also required.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds; work in an office setting; respond to diverse and potentially challenging situations; and maintain communication with a diverse population. The environment involves typical office conditions with occasional exposure to adverse conditions or health hazards.
