Serves as an expert clinician and resource nurse in the care of wound, ostomy, and continence patients. Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and nursing leaders in setting and maintaining standards for this patient population. Oversees and provides education and training to the nursing staff on wound/ET matters, and is an active member of the Palomar Health wound care team. Additionally, functions as an active member of the interdisciplinary rounds team to identify patients at risk for skin integrity problems and discharge learning needs, and coordinates follow up to these needs.

Oversees and monitors specialty bed utilization across the continuum. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process to provide care to children, adult, and geriatric patients. Functions within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act while following all of the Health System's established policies and procedures. Responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts and mobilization and shall participate as needed in patient handling.

Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.

• Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum Experience: 2 years wound care RN experience or 3 years acute care RN experience
• Preferred Experience: 2 - 3 years practicing as a WOCN, CWCN, or CWS
• Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
• Preferred Certification: Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN)
• Required License: Current CA RN License
• Preferred License: Not Applicable
