Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the manager, the Licensed Vocational Nurse maintains a safe, comfortable and confidential environment for the patient. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: preparing patients for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and caring for patients during treatment; administering medications subcutaneously, intramuscularly, intradermally, subdermally, and/or orally; providing and documenting professional nursing care within scope of practice standards under supervision of RN for assigned patients;
and participating as a team member to ensure appropriate resources to all internal and external customers.
- Take temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure of patients as necessary; apply and change dressings; may collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Assist physicians, mid-level providers, and registered nurses in performing examinations, tests and treatments.
- Administer electrocardiograms/other diagnostic testing, ear lavages, IVs, and nebulizer treatments.
- Maintain clinical records and reports electronically; review patient charts to determine appropriate treatment.
- Monitor the electronic medical record inbox for referrals, office procedures, and diagnostics.
- Request insurance referrals through various insurance companies.
- Order medical supplies; renew prescriptions for providers who are out of the office.
- Call patients for follow-ups.
- Maintain logs for narcotics and the auto crash cart.
- Current CA LVN License (Required).
- American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider (Required).
- Ability to speak and read English at a level sufficient to perform the essential functions.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment and PC software (MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail).
- Minimum Education:

0 - 12 months. - Preferred Experience:
1 year related. - Compliance with Palomar Health Medical Group rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards.
