Overview

Presbyterian is seeking an ICU RN. The Intensive Care Unit Nurse
, monitors patients, administer medications, assist patients with basic needs, chart care and responds to emergencies. Patients are often intubated, ventilated, and have multiple IV drips at a time.

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation.

  • Coordinates patient care in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team.

  • Performs assessments, administers medications and treatments, and documents according to protocols.

  • Identifies and addresses patient and family learning and discharge needs.

  • Evaluates patient progression toward outcomes and documents accordingly.

  • Responds competently in emergency situations.

  • Delegates patient care tasks based on team members' validated competencies.

  • Supervises LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.

  • Provides leadership through communication and validation of patient care.

  • Assists with procedures, treatments, and surgical techniques as needed.

  • Completes patient population-specific education and competency testing.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in required psychomotor skills.

  • Supports orientation of new staff and serves as a resource and role model.

  • Maintains professional responsibility for nursing structure and clinical standards.

  • Incorporates the organization's mission into caregiving activities.

  • Supports shared governance and care delivery models.

  • Assumes leadership roles, including relief charge nurse when required.

  • Meets professional requirements, including age-specific training, mandatory in-service training, and performance standards.

  • Participates in unit governance, adheres to dress code, documents continuing education, and maintains positive communication with patients and peers.

  • Engages in quality improvement activities, maintains reliable attendance, and complies with safety and equipment policies.

  • Performs other functions as required.
