We are seeking an experienced Senior Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will develop and deliver high‑quality outdoor education and NGB programmes, work closely with the Operations Manager/Coordinator, lead health and safety coordination across all activity areas, and supervise groups on and off site. You will organise activities in compliance with the Centre’s and County Council’s policies and take part in the Centre’s residential work.
Accountabilities- Lead the development and implementation of outdoor programmes.
- Supervise and provide pastoral care of young people and adults in residence.
- Organise repairs and renewals of activity equipment and maintain Centre buildings and grounds.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements of Essex County Council.
- Accompany customers on visits and outings, including outdoor activities.
- Observe practice processes, maintain standards and quality of delivery, and record findings.
- Lead the customer support team to develop programmes and allocate resources.
- Recruit and deliver NGB courses to staff and customers.
- Deliver outdoor education programmes to customers in remote areas of the UK and abroad.
- Meet individual and shared targets and objectives set annually.
- Possess at least two, preferably three, National Governing Body Outdoor Education qualifications at coach level; a D1 & D1E driving licence is desirable.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and knowledge in relevant professional area, and be a Forest School Leader.
- Significant experience delivering outdoor provision and environmental programmes.
- Excellent communication skills, motivating and relating well to young people and adults.
- Good leadership skills and behaviours, motivating a diverse team to deliver shared objectives.
- Ability to organise and plan outdoor youth work programmes in response to assessed educational needs.
- Ability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the youth work curriculum delivered.
- Experience establishing and maintaining a safe environment for specific activities.
