Are you an experienced Small Animal Vet looking for a rewarding part‑time role that offers a balanced work‑life schedule? This could be the perfect match for you. A long‑established Small Animal first‑opinion practice, comprising a main hospital and two branches, is seeking a dedicated and confident vet to join their team. This position has become available due to the current post‑holder relocating, and it promises a dynamic and supportive environment.
Work schedule:
3–4 days per week, Monday, Thursday, Friday, plus alternating Wednesdays (potentially every Wednesday).
Working hours:
8:30 am–8 pm on Mondays and Fridays, 8:30 am–5:30 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Responsibilities:
- On‑call back‑up for inpatients and handling emergencies presented before 8 pm once every fortnight on a Monday.
- 1 in 8 Saturday mornings, 8:30 am–1 pm.
- 1 in 8 duty weekends, managing Friday evening consultations, Saturday morning consultations, emergencies 8 am–5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and inpatients throughout the weekend. Emergencies outside these hours are managed by Vets Now.
- Bank holiday rota, up to two per year, same pattern as Sundays.
This role is exclusively focused on small animals, although the practice also caters to equine patients. Salary range £40k‑£70k. Team: 9 Small Animal vets (7.5 FTE), 3 interns, 10 RVNs, 4 SVNs, and 1 NA.
Requirements:
You must be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon and eligible to register with the RCVS. You should have 3–5 years of experience, be confident in sole charge and out‑of‑hours work.
