Quality Manager – Aerospace Industry

Location:

SS4 (Essex)

Salary: £50,000 per year

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday (no weekend working)

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager to join our prestigious client within the aerospace industry. This is a critical role for a passionate individual with strong expertise in First Article Inspections (FAIRS), auditing, and team leadership. As the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards across the production process, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and leading a dedicated team to achieve continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Quality Assurance Team
    , ensuring that all products meet aerospace standards and customer specifications.
  • Oversee and manage First Article Inspections (FAIRS), ensuring that first‑off parts meet all required tolerances and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits to assess compliance with company quality procedures and aerospace industry standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Lead external audits
    , including customer and third‑party audits, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions to resolve non‑conformances.
  • Implement and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure continuous improvement across the production process.
  • Analyze quality metrics (e.g.,
    Defects per Million Opportunities
    , scrap rates
    , rework
    ) and provide insights for enhancing manufacturing efficiency.
  • Manage the Non‑Conformance Report (NCR) process, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the quality team, fostering a culture of quality awareness, responsibility, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the key point of contact for quality‑related issues, liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to resolve challenges and improve processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining a focus on product integrity and safety.
  • Conduct training sessions to promote quality best practices and ensure that all team members are aligned with the company’s quality goals.
Core Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quality Manager or similar role in the aerospace industry
    .
  • Strong experience in managing First Article Inspections (FAIRS) and a solid understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a quality team
    , providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with audits (internal and external) and the ability to manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Experience in managing Non‑Conformance Reports (NCR) and driving improvements in quality performance.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with AS9100
    , ISO 9001
    , and other aerospace quality standards.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools (ERP systems, FAIR software, Microsoft Office).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Lean Six Sigma or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Degree or relevant certification in Quality Management
    , Aerospace Engineering
    , or related fields.
