Overview
Board of Public Works (BPW) seeks qualified applicant to fill the position of Superintendent of Public Works. The role requires an energetic, self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills and high attention to detail. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position reporting to BPW pursuant to Special Act approved by the State Legislature in 1973.
Responsibilities- Supervises the activities of Highway Department;
Park, Tree, and Moth Division;
Cemetery Division;
Solid Waste/Recycling Division;
Water and Wastewater Divisions. - Oversees upkeep, maintenance, and repair of Town roadways, bridges, Town buildings, water and wastewater operations, cemetery operations, snow and ice removal and all Town equipment and infrastructure (including streetscapes, Town utility systems, parking facilities, waterside docks, ramps, street lighting systems).

- Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; at least 10 years related work experience; and a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license. Pre-employment physical, drug test, and CORI check are required. - Preferred:
At least seven years of progressive experience in municipal public works;
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with at least ten years of progressive responsibilities in municipal public works; strong public administration background;
Registered Professional Engineer;
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL);
Hoisting License;
Water Operator and/or Distribution License;
Wastewater Collections System License; facilities maintenance, repair, and replacement experience.
Current annual salary is $113,290 to $136,813 and is expected to increase substantially at the 2025 Fall Town Meeting (as high as $160,000 for highly-qualified applicants).
