We are currently seeking either a single person or a couple to take on a key role in the day‑to‑day management and running of Colchester Country Park.
This is a varied and hands‑on position covering all aspects of running a busy touring and leisure lodge park. We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, confident dealing with customers and prepared to turn their hand to whatever needs doing.
For couples, responsibilities can be shared depending on each person`s individual experience and strengths.
Essential Requirements- Have good financial and administrative experience
- Be computer literate and confident using booking and office systems
- Be organised and capable of managing bookings, payments, paperwork and general administration
- Be confident dealing with customers face‑to‑face, over the telephone and by email
- Be comfortable dealing with sales enquiries and prospective lodge owners
- Be able to work independently, use their own initiative and take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the park
- Applicants must also be willing and able to work weekends, as weekends are an important part of the role.
Day‑to‑day duties will include:
- Running the reception and park office
- Taking and arranging bookings
- Managing arrivals, check‑ins and check‑outs
- Taking and recording payments
- Answering telephone calls and responding to emails
- Dealing with customer enquiries and assisting guests throughout their stay
- Managing booking and administration systems
- General office administration and keeping records up to date
- Dealing with any customer issues that may arise during their stay
- Keeping our lodge sales listings and online advertisements up to date
- Responding to sales enquiries
- Following up prospective customers
- Showing customers around available lodges
- Assisting customers throughout the sales process
Previous sales experience would therefore be an advantage.
Grounds, Cleaning & Maintenance- Cutting grass and general groundskeeping
- Keeping the park clean, tidy and well presented
- Cleaning and checking toilets, showers and other facilities
- Carrying out basic maintenance and practical jobs
- Identifying and dealing with issues around the park
- Helping with any other work required to maintain the park to a high standard
For couples, it may suit one person to focus more heavily on the office, financial, customer service and sales side of the business, while the other focuses more on grounds, maintenance and practical duties. However, both applicants must be flexible and prepared to help wherever required.
About the RoleThere is no typical day in this position.
You could be arranging bookings and checking guests in, dealing with payments and administration, showing a prospective customer around a lodge, cutting grass, checking the facilities or dealing with an unexpected problem on the park.
We are looking for a hands‑on individual or couple who will take responsibility for the park and get involved with whatever needs doing.
Previous experience working within a caravan park, campsite, holiday park, leisure park or similar environment would be a strong advantage.
This is not a training position. Applicants should already have relevant experience and be confident taking on the responsibilities of the role.
