Job Overview

Southend Hospital is offering an outstanding opportunity for a highly specialised Echo Physiologist to join our dynamic and progressive department. As part of a busy teaching hospital, you’ll not only deliver exceptional patient care but also have the chance to contribute to cutting‑edge research and clinical audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform both inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms with precision and care.
  • Assist in advanced procedures including trans‑esophageal, stress, and contrast studies.
  • Work in specialist clinics focusing on valvular pathology, cardio‑oncology, heart failure, and paediatrics.
  • Carry out and report at a specialised level a range of cardiac diagnostic tests, achieving BSE standard adult echocardiograms in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Assist in training Clinical Physiologists and Student Physiologists.
  • Support the lead physiologist in organising day‑to‑day work within the Heart and Chest Clinic.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Heart and Chest Department.
  • Contribute to infection control, ensuring a high standard of practice in line with current best evidence and legislation.
  • Manage time efficiently and seek support when required.
  • Any other duties as requested by the Principal Clinical Physiologist.
