Job OverviewMaylandsea Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and capable learning support assistant who will have a positive impact on the children they work with. Previous experience is highly desirable but not essential. You will join a team of hard‑working, friendly and adaptable LSAs working under the direction of class teachers supporting lessons and running interventions.
We are seeking a positive and enthusiastic candidate to provide direct support for a child diagnosed with Autism and Global Developmental Delay. The child has high support needs, is predominantly pre‑verbal and communicates through sounds, so consistent use of visuals is essential to promote shared engagement. The child is energetic and inquisitive, enjoying exploration around the school.
ResponsibilitiesThe position requires someone who is positive, patient and dedicated to recognising a child's potential and supporting their educational development. They will play an essential role in encouraging social engagement and self‑care skills for a child who currently requires full‑time support, creating an encouraging, calm and nurturing learning environment. Suitable candidates will interact with a wide range of children, supporting groups and individuals, including those with additional needs, and will work as part of a team, liaising with staff.
The successful applicant will be organised, communicate well, demonstrate initiative and flexibility, and understand the professional nature of the role.
Good numeracy and literacy skills are required; GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths is highly desirable. A good standard of English and mathematics is also required.
