Brentwood Prep School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing professional to join our Early Years team as a Teaching Assistant for a maternity cover position. In this vital role, you will work closely with the class teacher to create a safe, stimulating, and secure learning environment where every child can thrive. Your daily responsibilities will range from implementing planned learning activities and supporting small group work to managing online learning journals and maintaining vibrant classroom displays.

Beyond the classroom, you will play an active part in school life by supervising break times and contributing to our wraparound care provision, ensuring the welfare and social-emotional wellbeing of our pupils remains our top priority.

The ideal candidate will hold a Level 3 childcare qualification (or above) and possess a solid understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum. We are looking for a reliable team player who balances high integrity with the initiative to adapt activities to meet children’s evolving needs. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for providing feedback on pupil progress, logging incidents, and maintaining home-school diaries.
