Overview

Humanities Teacher (Geography Specialist) We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher with a specialism in Geography to join our academy. You will deliver high-quality Geography teaching within a supportive Humanities department, helping students develop strong subject knowledge, critical thinking skills, and a curiosity about the world. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about Geography, committed to inclusive practice, and focused on raising student achievement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum.
  • Monitor, assess, and support student progress, acting as a form tutor and contributing to students' academic and personal development.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and departmental improvement within the Humanities team.
  • Use assessment data effectively to inform teaching, intervention, and support strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to quality assurance processes.
  • Communicate positively with students, parents, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment in line with academy policies.
Person Specification
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a relevant undergraduate degree in Geography or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Geography at secondary level; ECTs are welcome to apply.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum at KS3 and KS4.
  • Evidence of effective classroom practice and the ability to motivate and engage learners.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to equality, safeguarding, and inclusive education.
