Community Based Worker – Cycle Training Instructor
Location:
Essex, County wide. Pay: £13.30–£14.15 per hour + mileage.
Contract:
Temporary, As and When. Minimum of two days per week, including weekends and evenings. Must be able to travel county wide.

Monday 18th March 2026. Interviews: W/C 30th March 2026. On‑board: 13th April 2026.
We are seeking competent individuals passionate about cycling and working with people—especially children—to deliver Bikeability training courses across Essex.
Accountabilities- Deliver training in line with National Standards and the Government‑approved Bikeability scheme.
- Ensure all on‑road and off‑road training is delivered in line with Health & Safety requirements.
- Work with children and adults in formal training settings.
- Liaise with managers and other instructors, ensuring all sessions run to the dates and times booked with schools.
- Maintain accurate administrative records, including risk assessments, attendance registers, and client information on the online system.
- Demonstrate professionalism, including reliability and good timekeeping.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
- Engage in training and use of new technology introduced by the County Council and The Bikeability Trust.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of working with people.
- Be a regular, competent cyclist.
- Confident using IT and have access to Word and Excel.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Suitably fit to undertake training duties and supervise children.
- Ideally hold a First Aid Qualification.
- Must own or have use of a smart phone.
Successful candidates must attend a three‑day National Standard course on 29th, 30th April & 1st May 2026 (online modules to be completed beforehand). Candidates will also be required to achieve full accreditation in the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training within 12 months of starting employment (funded by ECC).
