Learning Support Assistant - SEMH

£95 - £110 per day
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team. Your role will be essential in shaping young minds and supporting students with additional needs to achieve their best.

Responsibilities- Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Assist the classroom teacher in managing challenging and complex behaviors safely and effectively
- Monitor student progress, adapt learning materials, and provide constructive feedback
- Ability to communicate with, de‑escalate, and encourage children with complex behavioral profiles
- Collaborate with colleagues and specialists to implement effective behavior management and individual education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain regular communication with staff regarding student progress and emotional well‑being
- Contribute to a safe, positive, and supportive wider school community
- Proven experience dealing with challenging and complex behavior within an SEMH or alternative provision setting is essential
- Relevant experience working with young people with 2 professional/proven references
- An enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to get one)
- Right to work in the UK - Essential (sponsorship is not available with this role)
- Strong knowledge of de‑escalation techniques, SEMH support, and trauma‑informed practice
- Being passionate about inclusive education, teaching, and learning
