Senior Test Engineer - Electro-Optics/Electronics

We are seeking Senior Test Engineers to support the development and testing of advanced electro-optical and electronic products and test equipment within a major Aerospace & Defence engineering environment in Basildon.

The role will involve hands-on laboratory testing, test system development, instrumentation, diagnostics and verification across products incorporating electronic, mechanical, optical and software components
.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test strategies, procedures and test solutions.
• Support the design, integration and commissioning of test systems.
• Perform hands-on laboratory testing, measurement and diagnostics
  .
• Work with electrical and electro-optical test instrumentation and analyse test data.
• Support integration, verification and validation activities.
• Interpret product-level test requirements and contribute to structured engineering processes.
• Produce and review technical documentation, test procedures and user instructions.
• Work collaboratively with hardware, software, optical and systems engineers
  .

Essential Experience

• HND or higher in Systems, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• Practical experience in one or more of:
  • Electrical testing
  • Electro-optics
  • Environmental testing
  • Acoustic testing
• Hands-on lab-based testing, diagnostics and measurement
  .
• Good understanding of test instrumentation and data analysis
  .
• Experience working within structured engineering life cycles/processes
  .
• Strong attention to detail and organisation.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• SC clearance or ability to obtain SC clearance.

Desirable

• LabVIEW, MATLAB or similar test software
• Soldering experience
• Mechanical design and STTE
• Industry-standard ECAD tools
• Understanding of environmental effects on hardware performance
