Financial Accountant

Overview

Well established business on the Hertfordshire/Essex border is looking for a Qualified Financial Accountant to join a growing, well-structured finance team. This role would suit someone who trained in practice
, has already made their first move into industry
, and is now looking to deepen their technical accounting experience in a broader, more hands-on commercial environment.

The role has a strong focus on financial accounting, controls and statutory reporting
, with exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting processes.

• Preparation and review of monthly financial statements
• Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and robust supporting documentation
• Review and posting of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, group policies and internal controls
• Maintain and improve financial controls and reconciliation processes
• Support audit queries and ensure timely resolution of issues
• Assist with VAT returns and VAT reconciliations
• Support treasury and cashflow reporting where required
• Contribute to process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures

• ACA or ACCA Qualified
• Practice-trained background, with experience in industry
• Strong technical accounting and balance sheet control experience
• Comfortable working in a deadline-driven month-end environment
• Detail-oriented, structured and proactive in approach
• Clear communicator with a professional, collaborative working style
