Principal Enforcment Officer

Principal Planning Enforcement Officer Opportunity in Essex paying up to £55 per hour.

I am currently partnering with an Essex based Local Authority who are looking for an experienced Senior or Principal Planning Enforcement Officer to join their team on an interim basis. The successful candidate will provide additional support to a busy enforcement service whilst the Team Leader focuses on a significant project, making this a fantastic opportunity to step into a well-established team and make an immediate impact.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a busy Enforcement Team during a period of increased workload. With the Team Leader focusing on a major project, you will help provide additional capacity across the service, managing a varied caseload of enforcement investigations and ensuring cases continue to progress efficiently.

• Manage a varied caseload of planning enforcement cases from investigation through to resolution.
• Conduct site visits and gather evidence relating to potential breaches of planning control.
• Draft and serve Enforcement Notices, Breach of Condition Notices and Planning Contravention Notices.
• Work collaboratively with the wider Enforcement Team to help maintain service performance.
• Liaise with complainants, landowners, agents and legal services to secure positive outcomes.
• Support the Team Leader by helping to progress existing cases and reduce workload pressures across the service.

• Previous Planning Enforcement experience within a UK Local Authority.
• Strong understanding of planning legislation and enforcement procedures.
• Experience managing a varied enforcement caseload independently.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

• Excellent rates of pay up to £50 per hour (umbrella).
