Duty Solicitor – Essex & Suffolk

A leading regional Lexcel-accredited Legal 500 firm with a genuine long-term commitment to publicly funded law is seeking additional Duty Solicitors across Essex. • Broad caseload, Magistrates' Court, police station work and Crown Court litigation
• Overtime fully remunerated for out-of-hours police station attendance

You will join either the South Essex or North Essex teams, depending on location and preference.

The role involves:

• Representing clients from first contact through to trial
• Advocacy in the Magistrates' Court and police station representation
• Conducting your own trials where appropriate
• Managing your own caseload with autonomy but support on hand
• Handling both legal aid and private-funded matters

Applications are welcomed from:

• Qualified Duty Solicitors of any PQE
• Confident advocates with experience running a mixed criminal defence caseload
• Comfortable working independently in police stations, Magistrates' Courts and acting as litigator on Crown Court matters
• Passionate about access to justice and public funding work

Salary is dependent on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package and a tailored working arrangement available for the right candidate.
