This role carries ultimate accountability for blending commercial vitality with sporting ambition, ensuring each fuels the other. As the senior executive for all non‑sporting operations, you will be the guardian of long‑term sustainability, the cultivator of new value streams, and the key integrator connecting every facet of the organisation to a unified vision.
Responsibilities- Synthesise the Board’s long‑term vision into a dynamic, living strategic plan with clear milestones.
- Act as the principal liaison to the Board, providing strategic insight on organisational health, emerging opportunities, and potential challenges.
- Be the external ambassador for the organisation’s commercial and community endeavours, nurturing critical relationships with governing bodies, municipal partners, commercial allies, and civic leaders.
- Hold complete accountability for the financial ecosystem, from annual fiscal planning to multi‑year sustainability modelling.
- Design and enforce rigorous financial governance and transparent reporting mechanisms.
- Spearhead the diversification and maximisation of revenue, overseeing all commercial, experiential, and media‑related income, while optimising organisational expenditure and investments.
- Design and lead a forward‑thinking commercial strategy to deepen existing partnerships and pioneer new revenue channels in sponsorship, hospitality, and digital engagement.
- Continuously explore and validate innovative models for income generation to future‑proof the organisation’s financial base.
- Direct audience development and experience strategies to maximise engagement and revenue from core events.
- Ensure seamless collaboration between sporting performance and business operations, creating a culture of shared purpose and objectives.
- Champion a high‑performance, unified environment where all departments operate with a common strategic language.
- Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the primary venue, meeting all regulatory standards for safety and data protection.
- Manage the strategic partnership and formal agreements with local authority stakeholders regarding venue utilisation.
- Direct all efforts to amplify the organisation’s brand, safeguard its reputation, and foster profound connections with its audience.
- Lead the digital evolution, including direct‑to‑supporter channels, content strategy, and online revenue platforms, to broaden influence and impact.
- Ensure audience insight and sentiment are core components in strategic decision‑making processes.
- Elevate the organisation’s role as a foundational community asset by directing strategic outreach, youth pathway initiatives, and social value partnerships.
- Align community‑focused activities with long‑term audience development and talent identification goals.
- It is essential you have experience of working in a similar level role within the Football League.
- A seasoned executive with a background in a senior strategic leadership capacity within a league‑system sporting environment.
- Direct experience navigating the ecosystem and regulatory landscape of a national football league structure.
- Comprehensive ownership of a significant P&L and budgetary responsibility in a previous role.
- Proven mastery in strategic planning, commercial expansion, and high‑stakes partnership/contract negotiation.
