Minor Works Manager – Essex County Fire and Rescue Service

Job Title: Minor Works Manager
Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £41,771.00 – £45,091.00
Location: Service Headquarters, Kelvedon Park (travel to locations across Essex)
Closing Date: 3rd March 2026

The expectation is that, as a hybrid role, your work will be balanced between home and Services facilities, and you will be expected to attend the Service premises for at least 3 days of a 5‑day working week.

The Role

Our friendly and inclusive Property team is looking for a Minor Works Manager to support the development of our evolving Property Strategy, with a strong focus on estate improvements. Working across both Capital Works delivery and Operational works, you’ll play a key role in managing minor works projects from start to finish. We’re looking for someone proactive and self‑motivated, with the confidence to work independently and deliver projects on time and to a high standard.

What

You Will Be Working On
  • Planning, managing and delivering minor building works across a diverse estate
  • Working on Property improvement projects across the service
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, H&S and ensuring all projects meet quality safety and compliance standards
  • Preparing technical specifications, tender documentation and evaluation of bids
  • Assisting with hard service queries for the Property Services function
  • Preparing and reviewing risk assessments
  • Liaising with internal departments, station managers and external contractors to minimise operational disruption
  • Acting as a business partner lead for designated departments to run operational liaison
  • Working as project support on larger projects when required/deputising when required
  • Managing aerial contractor and liaising with provider or works required
  • Managing contract administration and handover documentation
What Are We Looking For?
  • Experience in Minor works/Property management/Project roles with knowledge of Building regs, fire safety standards and H&S
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently alongside operational teams and departments to deliver successful projects
  • Ability to travel between any ECFRS location and hold a full UK driving licence
