Colchester
4-on, 4-off day shifts + overtime
Up to £39,000 depending on experience + company benefits
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food packaging business near Colchester. This is a hands-on role in a high-volume FMCG environment, maintaining and optimising machinery to ensure production targets and product quality are consistently met.
You will work on equipment such as:
Multi-head weighers
Bagging machines
Graders
Conveyors
Pneumatics and sensors
Your main responsibilities will include:
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults across production machinery
Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules
Supporting small engineering projects and site improvements
Occasionally assisting with facilities maintenance
Ensuring all machinery meets uptime, safety, and hygiene standards
Full training on specific machinery will be provided, but previous FMCG or production maintenance experience is essential.
About You
We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer with:
Proven maintenance experience in FMCG, food production, or high-volume manufacturing
Strong mechanical skills and confidence using hand tools
Troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
Electrical, welding, or fabrication skills (desirable but not essential)
Commutable to Colchester and able to work 4-on, 4-off shifts
Important:
