We are currently recruiting for a Paint Prepper to join a growing manufacturing company based in Halstead. This is a full time, permanent opportunity offering long-term stability and excellent training. This role would suit someone with some previous experience in paint preparation, paint spraying or bodywork who is looking to develop their career. About the role:
Working within a busy paint shop, you will be responsible for preparing metal and fibreglass components ready for painting. This will include inspecting parts, repairing minor surface defects, sanding, filling, cleaning, and ensuring components meet the high-quality standards required before moving into the paint process. You will work closely with the paint shop and production teams, learning specialist techniques and developing your skills within a supportive manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing metal and fibreglass components for painting
Sanding, filling and smoothing surfaces to a high standard
Inspecting components for dents, scratches and surface defects
Carrying out minor repairs using fillers where required
Cleaning and preparing components prior to paint application
Using hand tools, DA sanders, grinders and preparation equipment
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in paint preparation, manufacturing or a similar hands-on role
Experienced paint prepper
Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
Comfortable using hand tools and preparation equipment
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Physically fit and comfortable working in a busy workshop environment Desirable (for top salary bracket):
Previous experience preparing metal or fibreglass components
Knowledge of fillers, masking or surface preparation techniques
Experience with in automotive, manufacturing or industrial finishing
Experience using DA sanders or grinders
What's On Offer
Salary between £28,000 - £32,000 (dependent on experience)
Full time, permanent position
Day shifts - Monday to Friday | Overtime availability
