Description
Due to continued growth, there is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join the expanding Commercial Sales team.
PurposeThe Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business growth while developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. The role is heavily sales‑focused, involving proactive telephone-based selling, account management, and collaboration across departments to deliver excellent customer service and commercial performance.
Responsibilities- Proactively generate and develop new business through outbound telesales activity
- Manage and grow a database of existing and prospective customers
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers to maximise account value
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, escalating where required
- Ensure all customer enquiries are managed efficiently and within agreed time frames
- Liaise with internal departments to obtain product and operational information to resolve queries
- Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the product portfolio and pharmaceutical industry
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Prepare, calculate, and submit tenders for customer accounts
- Generate and communicate daily offers to targeted customers
- Work towards Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and quality standards
- Achieve daily and monthly sales targets
- Follow established procedures for logging, processing, and tracking enquiries
- Support the Area Sales Manager with onboarding new pharmacy accounts and monitoring account spend
- Complete administrative tasks as required to support the wider business
- Previous telesales experience
- Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and supply chain
- Proven sales track record with the ability to meet targets and deadlines
- Strong commercial awareness and sound decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong IT and computer literacy
- Good administrative and organisational skills
- Proactive, hardworking, and positive “can‑do” attitude
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Confident and innovative approach to work
- High attention to detail and accuracy
