Social Worker – Children with Disabilities, North Essex

Permanent, Full Time.

Location: Colchester.

Annual Salary: £36,124 to £51,834 per annum (starting salary £36,124 for NQSW, rising to £38,487 after ASYE programme).

Working style: Community‑based worker.

Eligibility: Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) and Experienced Social Workers. Registration with Social Work England as a registered Social Worker required.

Responsibilities & duties include:

  • Delivering and coordinating social work services for children 0–16 with disabilities.
  • Supporting families and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities through integrated and holistic approaches.
  • Maintaining professional case records in compliance with PCF and KSS requirements.
  • Participating in team meetings and multi-disciplinary case reviews.
  • Traveling throughout Essex to visit service users, providing support and facilitating transportation when necessary.
  • Adhering to the nine‑day working fortnight arrangement for full‑time frontline Social Workers.

Qualifications & skills required:

  • A diploma or degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice within current professional standards (PCF, KSS).
  • Proficiency in case recording and use of information technology, including Word and the SW case recording system.
  • Strong social work skills: emotional intelligence, analytical thinking, confidence in challenging social and family situations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
  • Valid driving licence, car or alternative means of meeting mobility requirements.
