Overview
Join a dedicated and compassionate team at a new 16-bed state-of-the-art Secure Residential Facility in Essex, Vermont. Play an essential role in the person-centered treatment of adults with severe mental illness. The facility spans over 17,000 square feet and includes a full-size gymnasium.
Residential Counselor duties involve caring for and treating residents both within the facility and in the community. Responsibilities include providing education, supporting life skills and milieu management, assisting residents with appointments, activities, and community visits. Duties also include co-facilitating groups and activities, observing resident behavior, and responding therapeutically to facilitate community inclusion, independence, and skill acquisition.
Job Levels and CompensationThere are three levels within this job class, with shared duties and specific responsibilities such as group facilitation and leadership roles. We are recruiting for both day and night shifts. Night shifts (6:30 pm - 7:00 am) have a $4.00 shift differential, and weekend shifts have an additional $1.50/hour differential.
This position is eligible for full retirement after 20 years of service in eligible positions.

Environmental FactorsEmployees interact with individuals experiencing serious mental illness, some of whom may present risks such as assaultive behavior, elopement, or self-harm, and may be exposed to infectious diseases and caustic detergents.
Minimum Qualifications- Six months of experience in human services, healthcare, public administration, or related field.
- OR enrollment in a degree program in a related field.
- Active Driver's License required.
- Overtime may be required to maintain staffing levels.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations.
- Compliance with OSHA standard (c) for respiratory protection, including annual fit testing.
