What You'll Do

As a Technician Apprentice, you'll learn how to maintain and troubleshoot the advanced equipment used to manufacture semiconductor chips that power everything from smartphones and vehicles to medical devices and communications technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learn semiconductor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Perform preventive and first-call maintenance activities
  • Complete technical coursework through Vermont State University
  • Work alongside skilled technicians and engineers
  • Follow quality, safety, and operational procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
Work Schedule

One of the biggest benefits of working at Global Foundries is our compressed work schedule, which provides full-time pay and benefits while offering more days off than a traditional Monday-Friday job.

Night Shift 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Employees work a compressed 12-hour schedule that provides multiple days off throughout the month. Many employees appreciate having weekdays available for appointments, family commitments, schoolwork, or simply more time to enjoy life outside of work.

What We're Looking For

Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanical or technical aptitude
  • Interest in manufacturing, engineering, robotics, electronics, automotive, or related technical fields
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Dependable work ethic
  • Ability to follow procedures and learn new technical skills
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent technical education
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule
  • Ability to work in a semiconductor cleanroom environment
  • Ability to wear all required cleanroom protective clothing and equipment throughout a shift (excluding breaks)
  • Ability to stand for the majority of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds periodically throughout the shift
  • Travel requirement: 0-5%
