Overview
Animal Dermatology Clinic - Estero is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant. ADG is the largest veterinary dermatology business in the U.S., with over 40 locations nationwide and more than 90 doctors. We provide advanced dermatology care, support general practice veterinarians, participate in drug/product development and clinical trials, and host the largest dermatology residency program approved by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate excellent relations with clients and their pets in waiting areas and exam rooms
- Exceed client expectations of service
- Provide compassionate nursing care as a priority for all patients
- Housekeeping/maintenance
- Perform cursory examinations of animals and recognize potential patient issues
- Communicate findings clearly to a doctor
- Record keeping
- Fill prescriptions and dispense medications as prescribed
- Assist in procedures, restrain animals, and monitor anesthesia as needed
- Apply bandages/splints and provide wound care
- Advise pet owners on proper care
- 2 years of veterinary experience required; dermatology experience preferred
- Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to be cross-trained for front office duties; strong computer skills
- Team player willing to learn and adapt
- Willingness to teach others and share ideas; openness to diversity
- Dependable attendance; punctual
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach during an 8-hour day
- Phlebotomy
- Preparing and restraining animals during procedures
- Anesthetic monitoring
- Assisting in surgery
- Wound care and bandaging
- Using a stethoscope and otoscope
- Client education on proper pet care
Physical Requirements
- Must have 2 years of veterinary experience
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, or reach during shifts
- No weekends or holidays
