Position Summary:
The Response to Intervention (RTI) Support Worker plays a critical role in supporting students who struggle in conventional school settings, including those requiring behavioral support, or requiring social, emotional or academic support. Working under the direction of the administrative team as a member of the RTI team, the RTI Support Worker will implement intervention strategies, build positive relationships with students, and contribute to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The role aligns with the mission and values of Catholic education, emphasizing compassion, patience, and respect for the dignity of every learner.
Required Skills/Training:
- Post-secondary degree in education, child and youth work, social work, psychology or a related field;
- Experience in supporting students with behavioral or learning challenges is preferred;
- Knowledge of Inclusion and Intervention Plans (IIPs) is an asset;
- Experience working with children or youth in educational, behavioral, or social service settings;
- Knowledge of RTI frameworks, behavior management techniques, and/or intervention strategies;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families;
- Patience, empathy, and a solution-focused mindset when addressing challenging behaviors;
- Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students and demonstrate cultural sensitivity;
- Ability to work closely with and support students who require Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions;
- Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Ability to work with personal and sensitive information and honor confidentiality;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as a team player;
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive and faith-based learning environment;
- First Aid/CPR would be considered an asset, but not a requirement; and
- Familiarity with Catholic education principles and practices is an asset;
Requirements:
- Current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check upon employment
- Familiarity and understanding of the practices of the Roman Catholic Faith
