Job Summary
Music is a significant foundational element of both our curriculum and our school community. This position carries the responsibility for the instrumental music program from the Grade 3 Introduction to strings through the High School Orchestra. This includes collaborating with other music teachers at the school to create a cohesive and inspiring music program, and collaborating with performance arts faculty and the general teaching faculty to integrate music into our overall program.
Other lessons will be assigned to complete the full-time teaching load, and are established in the late spring of each school year for the following year.
- Leading the Lower School Instrumental program, including the following classes:
- Grades 5/6/7/8 Wind Ensemble, Grades 5/6/7/8 String Ensemble, Grade 4 Wind Ensemble
- High School Orchestra
- The oversight and coordination with the private music teachers.
- Conducting at Parent Festivals and other performances as determined by the Music Department.
- Music Education Degree or equivalent music teaching experience
- Minimum of two years teaching or related experience
- Comfort in working with Winds and Strings.
- Willingness to work with colleagues and parents in a collaborative community
- Willingness to work with, learn and apply Waldorf teaching methods
Salary range is between $51,214.80 and $82,533 for a full‑time position and is determined based on years of experience and education. Benefits include RSP contribution, health, vision, dental coverage and tuition remission.
