Registered Practical Nurse, Operating Room

The Registered Practical Nurse will participate in preoperative, operative and postoperative activities of the surgical client. These include the scrub nurse role, assisting with ambulatory care clinics, documenting client care and providing support to clients and their families.

This is a temporary, part-time position that is anticipated to begin in August 2026 and extend through February 2028.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, and be on‑call for after‑hours.

• Demonstration of adherence to the professional practice standards of CNO.
• Demonstrated application of role in Code situations (e.g., Code Blue).
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, staff and community partners.
• Working with a variety of patients, from pediatric to geriatric.
• Observing and recording patient behavior; evaluates patient outcomes.
• Competent operation of medical equipment.
• Performing diagnostic tests within scope of practice.
• Safely administering medications and treatments.
• Contributes to plan of care from admission to discharge.

• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Diploma from a recognized college.
• BCLS, NRP.
• Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias Certification.
• 12‑Lead ECG Interpretation Certification.
• Peri‑Operative Course required.
• PACU Course preferred.
• Specialized certifications and courses related to area of specialization as required.
• One‑year related nursing experience working in Day Surgery, PACU and the OR, including experience as Scrub Nurse preferred.
• High degree of physical effort.
• High degree of mental effort and analysis.

$35.31 – $37.05 per hour
